For the Fellowship’s light festival celebration on this upcoming 4th Sunday in Advent, we will use the lens of the contemporary African-American celebration of Kwanzaa, which runs from December 26 to January 1. “Kwanzaa” means “first fruits” in Swahili. We will light a candle for each of the Nguzo Saba, the 7 Guiding Principles: Unity, self-determination, working together, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity, and faith.
In the daily walk of life, it’s easy to lose track of what is important to us, what we hold as valuable and true. This Sunday, come and re-energize your spirit, and remember — who you are and why you are here.
Next Wednesday will be the Fellowship’s Christmas Eve Gathering at Sedona Creative Life Center at 6:30 p.m.. It is hosted by Reverend Susan Perry and Music Minister, Jon Michael. A tapestry of the birth narrative and inspiring readings, traditional and contemporary Christmas music, combined with a candlelighting ceremony, make the evening memorable. Bring a dish to share — a community potluck follows directly afterward in the Universal Room.
